Strengthening the Capacity of Local Moldovan Media to Deliver Objective Information on Democratic Development and EU Association Agreement

The „Strengthening the Capacity of Local Moldovan Media to Deliver Objective Information on Democratic Development and EU Association Agreement” project, funded by the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL), U.S. Department of State, has been extended till December 2018.

The extended part of the project will be based on three rounds of activities, with the following themes and topics:

Round 1. Boosting the democratic reforms in local public administration

• Community involvement in decision-making
• Financial and operational transparency of LPAs
• Watch-dog on reform implementation and foreign assistance projects

Round 2. Encouraging citizen activism
• Youth initiatives
• Youth in politics
• Women in business and public administration

Round 3. Entrepreneurship development in rural areas
• Success stories
• Modern entrepreneurship practices
• Cooperation between entrepreneurs from Moldova and those abroad

At each round, regional TV stations, in cooperation with Central Production Studio in Chisinau, will produce 10 TV shows/debates in duplex format. At least 30 TV shows will be produced during the project.

Two additional TV shows in duplex format will be produced entirely by teams of young people cooperating with regional stations. This will be a unique experience both for the program and media sector in Moldova. Two more production studios will be selected within the project from regions mainly with Russian speaking population. These production studios will produce thematic shows on the above mentioned topics.

Project participants will produce 13 „success stories” featuring people from different regions of Moldova who contributed to the development and promotion of democratic values in Moldova.
The training activities in journalism and social media for regional TV stations will continue in order to boost the access to information for rural population and youth.
