Striving for Greater Access to Medicines

Medicines are accessible if they are continuously available and affordable at public or private health facilities or medicine outlets that are within one hour’s walk from the homes of the population. Affordable access to quality medicines is vital if universal access to health care is to be achieved.

In 2015, the Foundation launched the research results "Access to compensated medicines in the RM" assessing how the compensated medicines system influences the population’s access to medicines in Moldova. The study identified factors constraining the development of the compensated medicines system at the regulatory, operational, and financial levels as well as the public perception of the availability of compensated medicines and its impact on their health status.

The Foundation aims to support implementation of identified recommendations and interventions.
